BIGBANG MADE Tour in Indonesia : A Review (Part I)

So, yesterday I finally crossed one of my top wishlist : watching a BIGBANG full concert, BIGBANG 2015 World Tour [MADE] in Jakarta, held on August 1st, 2015 at Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City by promoter Melania Citra Prima (MCP) and AMI Live Entertainment. I need to convey all my feelings concerning the show and I'd like to write them down on two parts : Part I would be talking about how the event was held and Part II would be talking about the show itself and the boys too ;) I need to seperate the two parts as the mood were way too different for both.

Let's start from the the first part then.

Disclaimer : this part would be mostly felt bitter. Please proceed at your own risk, otherwise you might want to skip this. I'd try my best to write as polite as I could, yet I won't hold myself from being blunt and to the point. To be honest, I'm not even in a mood to write in a descriptive way, yet I want to get this uneasy feeling to come out once for all. So I'm gonna make it all straight. All the articles of official announcements regarding the event by promoter could be viewed here, and I'd used them as reference to write all pointers on this first part.

First thing first, I'm thankful for the promoter, of which I believe worked their hardest to bring my most favorite superstars here. However, from the very bottom of my heart I really really really do wish they would not ever even think to organize any other event, international events (including concerts), especially, unless they learnt their lesson. So UNPROFESSIONAL.

Let me sort it out (note : these points were gathered from personal observation or fan accounts through twitter on replies to MCP) :

The "promises" that didn't happen :

  • A limited VIP Package >> what's so limited of an overly crowded section? if it's really true that they sold 1.200 of VIP Package (and later somebody said it was actually 2.300 people on the PINK section), i think we have different interpretation of the word "limited" and "VIP".
  • Sound check and fast track available only for VIP Package >> how about additional given through lucky draw for late sale?
  • That the VIP Package would enter the venue before sound check, no need to queue again and re-enter the venue >> is a big NO. we had to queue twice, for the sound check and for the actual concert. with such number of VIP ticket holder, it was sure a chaos organizing audience to go into the venue, then go out, re-queue, and re-enter again.
  • There would be limited lockers >> no locker at all.
  • There would be a gift corner >> none at all! this is the worst.
  • Prohibition to bring any kind of camera and other gadgets such as tabs and tongsis. also small chairs >> spotted some tongsis, some people said there were even DSLR camera passed the security checked, and there was definitely some people brought small chairs into the section.
  • Prohibition to bring foods and drink the the venue >>  food and drink brought from outside were confiscated, yet they provided a hall with food/drink with no proper number of trash bags. bottles and boxes everywhere. so messy >.<
  • The concert should be started at 6.30 pm >> it was not started on time. the boys had to cut one song from encore :((

Missed common preparation :

  • The venue was actually very good! However it was very unfortunate that the promoter looked like did not do a check and recheck, might as well did not do a proper preparatiosn, for following matters : space layout (that's one big venue, for God sake), almost all the toilets did not function well (no water on jet washer--oh please, no water even on washtafel washbowl (edited. i'm sorry for the typo, but i don't wish to delete this post. sorry for the inconvenience, i was just too emotional to check before.)...these are so basic!), and some people even said it was hard finding rooms for prayer.
  • NO PUBLICATION BANNER & SIGN SYSTEM. This is crucial. No banner or any sign to show there will be BIGBANG performing at the day. No signage showing literally where people needs to go, whether where the queue lines for each categories, where the merchandise stall, where the food trucks, which way to go in, and etc. These are also very basic. How come?
  • NO COORDINATION AMONG CREWS. Yes, everything those happened yesterday convinced this. Just when audiences asked something to nearest crew, all the answer was :"Wah, i don't know." Really?? Weren't you there suppose to help the event to go smoothly??
  • A very messy queue system. Just as I predicted before, and even worse. Really. It was so chaotic, the YG staff even had to help managing the ins and outs of VIP's ticket holder on sound checks and the actual concert time. Some people on twitter even said they looked so upset with the local security.

To complete the list, these are information I just known after the show :

  • Apparently some security guards allowed around 50s people to enter the venue without tickets. Like, SERIOUSLY? This could mean no security, no?
  • Some merchandise were sold with higher price than how much it's suppose to be.
  • There were logos of another entertainment agency on the merchandise plastic wrapping. You gotta be kidding me!
  • The send off event was a total mess. Some of the lucky draw winner got to leave the concert venue early, missing the encore, to wait outside while it was raining and no shelter just to find later that the boys has just left the venue without the send-off. That's so cruel, in my opinion.
  • I know the stage (including lightings) and the sound system were not part of MCP responsibility but rather AMI Live's. However, as the local promoter who suppose to know the venue better, I think MCP could also coordinate the technical issues better. Now I know I am not the only one who very disappointed with the sound. The boys were still singing well, though, but somehow I feel they felt inconvenient with the sound. I hope that's only my proven-wrong thought.

Okay, that's from me. If you want to see how bad we, Indonesian VIPs, were very disappointed by promoter works, just go to their twitter and read all those furious replies. Those tell everything.

Hufft . . .
Do they even aware that they held a world tour concert event with over than 5000 audience?
Do they even realize it was BIGBANG they were bringing?
Do they even know it was VIPs they're dealing with?

Okay. Let's end the Part I here. I don't even want to remember how messy things were anymore. I even had a hard time admitting that the price I paid was very much not worth it. Honestly speaking it ruined my mood very much. I hope the promoter and the crew learnt their lesson. And I do think they owe the audience a press conference clarifying everymessythings those happened and of course, an apology, towards VIPs and all the audience, and to the boys. Their concert deserves much much muchhhhh better handling.

It was only and ONLY the BIGBANG themselves who save the night. But that's on PART II, guys :)

I'm very sorry for the bad words, but I really need to let these out. Will do some second time filtering later. As for now, this first draft needed to be published the way it is.

ps : when i saw some of the fancams later the day after, it broke my heart to see Daesung's worried expression watching the audience were pushing each other and Ri's being surprised of the sudden fireworks at sound check. but what i hate the most was some disrespectful words someone said about Ri with mentioning his name on her IG's group photo with Ri himself. how come they let them :'(

I feel what you said everything was correct, I like a fool to see how the venue of the concert yesterday and I am so upset, disappointed and sad. we can see how the expression of GD while soundcheck? he looks very bad mood, all the members are not acting as usual, I think they are also very disappointed with the promotors, BB look so worried with their fans, who queued from early morning, spend a lot of money to watching them, willing to squeeze and they want to reward us with good performances, but the reality doesn't meet expectations. And whether we should call the VIP class as the class of the festival? everything is messed up!!

@Cassie Kim : i feel the same. i got this feeling that the boys were actually upset. their expressions, well, one can tell there's something wrong. one thing i know the staff were real upset with promoters inability to manage queue lines. i bought VIP Package. and i had a hard time admitting that i am very much disappointed and regretting. i bought VIP because i wish to see them at front rows. but in reality i had to choose watching them form the last row of pink section. what's the point of fast track ticket. and what's the point of sound check if we must panicked leaving the venue even before the boys got off the stage just to make sure we could queue fast for the actual concert. with such uncontrolled crowd like yesterday i don't think i could survive the front rows.

@Afriyani Fika : Part 2 can wait, hehe...it would only talks about the boys and their performance, which i love very much. they really did their best. too bad the sound system and the screen didn't do justice. even i'm not a send off victims, i feel you. they're just too cruel. to sacrifice encore is just too much :(

@Blue : so apparently all sections were disappointed :(

100% agree with you.
At first, I really satisfied with the concert. I even upload photo and say thank you to the promotor. But I take all my words back.
I already feel weird with mecima, start from D-2 cause they just keep quite. Usually it's time for promotor to explain all rules, mechanism of queque, and else. Instead of answering fans' question, the busy to said thank you to their media partner.
btw are you in VIP section?
I'm in pink, when I was in queque in hall 10, I heard loud sound like something fall from the roof (if I'm not wrong,it happened twice) and saw something happen with the board. When we get into next hall, my friend next to me said: 'oh that one that fell before' while pointing the tall, big broken board. Do you see this too?
And I just saw this on twitter, please tell me if I'm wrong (https://twitter.com/celinejingyo/status/628246070875701249 ) and based on how the recruitment, I think it's answering problem about the 'crew'.
I'm most surprised with the sound system. (My father work as a soundman so I know little bit about sound). Even start from the very first beginning, right after the light were turn off and bang bang bang started,it sounds bad. Huge different with Alive 2012. And right after that, there is problem with each of member's mic (I think except TOP,if I'm not wrong Taeyang's mic is most often). I can look from far how Taeyang try sing very hard but still lose from the music. I mean, Bigbang just held concert day before, with the sound problem, it makes them more tired.

Sorry for the long comment. I'm just very angry reading those complain and they didn't do anything. Correct me if I had mistake. Thank you:)

I watched from the grey section. Wishing for a permanent chair but it's not. I saw no crew in my section and all the crowds just walked around even standibn at the furthest front. But i could see Bigbang clearly from the screens.
I entered the venue at almost 7 and the gate crews asked all grey VIPs to run and enter the gate faster. I mean why would i run if they organized the event well? Why would i need to run like crazy if i have seat number. It's all because the crazy promotor and crews that they were in a hurry. When i sit i saw most of the chairs i think in both section were mostly empty and right after i sit within less than 5 min Bang Bang Bang was sung. So i watched the first two songs with VIPs still running looking for their seats.

I hate the no water toilets and no praying room. All the crew said no praying room or i dont know. Impossible for an international convention center like that. I hate Mecimapro so unpro. Forgot to add the sound was terrible. Taeyang's Rise was much better

@Anis Ferisa :
Yes, that's my concern as well. For some people, it might just normal to know things D-1, but not for me, and hey what about those from outside the area. I stiffly think proper announcement regarding do's and don'ts should be made at least one week prior the event. Btw, yes I was at VIP section. Unfortunately I didn't pay much attention to the board you mentioned (maybe because too many things just already 'amazed' me..hehe).
However I didn't know about picture on the link you wrote, so I can't really say much about that. In fact, I don't really care how they recruit and brief the crew, the facts on how they 'help' the concert just told everything. I'm sorry for being bitter here :(
And yes, I agree with you on how bad the sound system were. It surprised me. I almost want to cry at the first Bang Bang Band because of the terrible sound. Well, thankfully it got better though after several songs. Well, but apparently some people were satisfied with the sound (not me, though). I could feel how hard they tried to sing with such sound (cries).
You are welcomed for the comment :) Different people may express different opinion and that's totally okay. I also apologize if there're any harsh words on my post :)

@Silvana Devinta :
Oh no, I feel sorry for you. Yeah, I also thought some things those happened did not make sense including the fact that audience at grey section couldn't catch the firsts songs. I once looked back at seated sections and surprised to see how empty they were, but later in the middle of the show I saw those seats were full.
About the toilets, yes it also annoyed me how the jet washer and the washtafels didn't functioned. Almost all of them. However, I believe I read somewhere on ICE (the venue) twitter account there're praying rooms. I just forgot on which hall.
Did you watch RISE too? I thought RISE was chaos as well on its queue system. But the audience back then were not as many as MADE and the venue was small, so it's still under control (but a chaotic is chaotic, though).

Okay, let's chill down :)
It's August 4th, time to wait for MADE Series E!

So every section have their own story 😢
I'm in yellow & i think you guys already saw how messy yellow VIP is.
Try really hard for survive from a chaos queues.
There was YG crew who filming VIP when that chaos happened and mecima still did NOTHING.
really shameless.
Alive tour & GD one of a kind was better.

I'm 5 mths pregnant n bought vip.package with consideration: i will stand on the back area during the concert bcos i know there will be some pushing during the concert and i cant put myself in that kind of situation while 5 months pregnant. I always choose festival and stood at the back area even b4 pregnant bcos i can enjoy the show n jump around comfortably. So i thought if i buy vip package i can see bigbang closer during the soundcheck bcos it's limited right. Then i can move back during the concert. But what happened was not what i expected, the soundcheck is crowded. The concert even worst, i'm stuck in the middle of super excited people and my sister have to pull me from the crowd and push everyone out of our way to go back during the bang bang bang opening song so i can go back to safer area. After that i can enjoy the show..well sort of. U all know what happen during the concert with the camera slr tab banner blocking our view.
I spent almost the same amount of money 3 years ago during alive concert to watch the concert on both days and have such a blast,i still felt the concert euphoria even 2 weeks after the concert. But this time, those same amount of money to watch 1 day concert and after the concert done,i kinda in a daze, what did just happen? I didnt feel anything, all i can remember is how messy the concert operational is from b4, during, even after the concert. Totally not worth it!!

@ She Shien :
You're right. So basically almost every section got their disadvantages despite the price. Until today I still can't believe it was that chaotic and the local crew just useless (pardon my word* :( I didn't watch Alive so I can't compare. But I watched OOAK and it was indeed much better.

@ Emma :
Oh my God :( I can't imagine that. I hope you're fine after the show. Just like you, I also wished to watch from the back area of VIP section. I think I wouldn't have that much energy to join the front rows. However it shocked me that the section was so huge I finally got to watch from the back area of PINK section. I kinda hoped they would put a barrier between VIP and PINK. What's so special about the VIP ticket then? :(
And I agree with you. Usually after the BB shows (I attended OOAK, RISE, both in Jakarta, and F1 concert in Singapore), I felt this kind of euphoria which lasted for weeks, a good hangover I called. But sorry to say, I didn't feel the same way after MADE. All I can remember was how unprofessionally held the concert was. Of course the boys are perfect, as usual. I also love the chemistry between the boys and INA VIPs that night. But that's it. Everything else broke my heart.
